Week 31 - 20 to 25 November 2017 - Roof and stone walls

This week we get all the roof 'rasillas' on, pointed and edged. Mohamed is joined by one of his brothers, Mansumi, to continue the stone walls. The sabina lintels I made are planed, treated and ready to be set in. Sally and I do a lot of work on the trees and plants around the house.

The column to support the pergola beam is full height.

Meanwhile, almost all the rasillas are on, the two far roofs are edged (look closely), half the complete roof is pointed. 

Pointing is a long, tedious job... Those white and black pipes are the copper and electric ducts for the air-conditioning compressors.

A pile of stuff is delivered this week as well. Blocks for the terraces, and below, all our bathroom fittings and backup boiler. Solar panels arrive soon.

While all this is going on, Sally and I have also done a lot of work on the old house and on the land. 

 We removed the old tumble-down stone wall in front of the oleander hedge...

... enjoyed beautiful dawns ...

... sunsets ...

... and the occasional curious visitor.

By the end of the week, we have nearly completed the west stone wall, and we have nearly completed the roof. So close... I had the Champagne ready, but it'll have to wait till Monday. Or perhaps Tuesday, we'll see.

All the rasillas are on, most are grouted, most of the edging rasillas are on.
Just a few to finish off, and the expansion gaps to be filled, and we're done,
ready for the next coat of render on the parapets.

The plumber also started on the bathrooms, first setting up for the recessed shower thermostats.

I'll just close the week off with a couple of other pictures. 

Sunday morning walk, and we discovered a field full of wild rocket. Lunch!

The mulberry has decided it's Fall.

... and Sant Francesc has its Christmas decorations up.

Next week, after finishing the roof, we'll start on interior rendering. Mo and Manthu will continue working on the North stone wall, and hopefully before we leave on Thursday we'll see the sabina lintels over the windows on that wall. Back in a couple of weeks...
