Week 47 - 12 to 17 March 2018: Tiling outside.

This week we start the tiling on the terraces. Site meeting on Monday to discuss and resolve a bunch of outstanding issues, including siting of heat pump, colours for microcemento in bathrooms, pool tiling and much more. Grouting and skirting tiles continue inside.

The West side of the house on Tuesday afternoon.
We decided to lower the pool overflow basin by 20 cms so that it's not visible from the house.

Meanwhile, internal floors and skirting are being grouted.

Choosing colours for microcemento in bathrooms.

Terrace gets more tiles. This is Tuesday afternoon.

The edging tiles start going on, Wednesday.

Living room floor is grouted and all skirting tiles are on throughout the lower level.

Throughout the week we continue to tile and grout the terraces.

The terrace at the end of the week. Still some grouting to do, also finish the small part between the pool terrace and the pool itself (wiring for door to machine room).

A series of photos showing the progress of lowering the pool overflow. It was too high, so the 'infinity' effect would not be seen from the terrace. We've lowered it by 20 cms.

30 cms cut off.

 Shuttering and concrete fill (reinforced with steel) to put 10 cms back on.

Concrete drying.

One day later, un-shuttered and preparing for final layer of cement.

Final layer of fine sand and cement. Next week will waterproof, ready for tiling.

Also this week we build the rain drains for rainwater flow toward the pool from the house (there is a 1.5 %  drop from the house)...

... and likewise for the patio. The drain (where the metal square rod is inset) will be under a narrow slit between the tiles. 

And while all this is happening, I demolish the old wall below the pool and pile up the stones ready for re-use.

End of another successful week. Can't wait for next week when we'll finish all the terrace tiling and grouting, finish the underfloor heating system and start on the pool tiling. Weyhey!!!
