Week 46 - 5th to 10th of March 2018 - Tiling indoors.

Sally and I return to Formentera on Sunday 4th of March, against all odds: Elkstone is snowed in, Bristol airport was shut the 2 days before, storm Emma is raging across Europe... but we made it.

The house has progressed a lot. The pool is waterproofed, rendered ready for tiling, and the steps are done.

The chimney and extractor flue are built and the rooflines are ready for final rendering.

And this week most of the focus is on the internal flooring which by Friday is nearly complete, leaving  just a couple of details to do in the bathrooms around the shower trays.

Pool overflow is built up but will be lowered by 10 to 15 cms for aesthetic reasons.

Chimney and extrator vent partly built. Need vented tops, the lower one serving as a table for evening G&Ts?

And lots of small details like a cover for the cistern.

The main activity is the floor tiling. This is the living room as we found it on Sunday afternoon

 when we got here. Because the tiles are so big it makes the rooms look smaller. Once grouted the lines will hardly be visible.

Steps to study with risers done; The steps are special tiles with a glazed border, and also they are 'non-slip', and so reflect light a bit differently.

Wednesday, and the risers for the front door steps are in.

Sally admiring her partly done floor. On Friday we will finish the floor (trastero, aseo and a few bits in the bathrooms), then start on the skirting.

Saturday morning, end of a good week. The wild asparagus is out and ready for picking.

Tiles on stairway to heaven. The stainless steel banister is being made by the local smithy,
 so three of the corner tiles aren't in place yet.

And the Daikin heat pump has been delivered. This is the external unit.

And this is the internal unit, size of a large fridge.
