Formentera Casa Sally: Week 13 ----- (17 to 22 July 2017) ----- Main structure almost finished.

The pine beams for the main roof arrive this week. We build up the supporting columns for the terrace roof and the main beam in the living roof, prepare the sockets for the cross beams, start on the stairway to heaven - which requires a bit of jiggery-pokery to get the angles right - and generally work on getting all the elevations right to receive the beams.

Wednesday morning: Beams are delivered. Spend the afternoon unloading and checking stock. It all appears to be there. Now we need to treat the wood, then start mounting. Very heavy stuff, so it will be chain saws, crane and lots of sweat and tears...

This Wednesday morning, while waiting for the crane to unload the trailer, we scribed in the stairs to the roof, built the shuttering for same, and finished the shuttering for the rest of the living room roof-line.

Shuttering for top of stairs. Decided to put a small (80x80 cm) tiled floor at top of staircase instead of taking steps to top.

Moved the stairs profile to clear the garage door. Old line in white, new line in red. Raised tread height to 20.3 cm from 19, tread depth is 28cm. This gives more clearance.
